In order to understand and articulate the concepts of racism and inequity, one must be able to address confusion and misinformation. In this session, leaders will examine vocabulary words and concepts that help push the thinking about the often misunderstood idea of white privilege. The content in this PD is pulled from The Catalyst Approach's more comprehensive 12-hour course: Foundational Vocabulary for Understanding and Articulating Racism & Inequity.

For those who are knowledgeable about the concept, or have attended either the full Catalyst course or the March 1 Catalyst MESPA session of the same name, this course will include added time for discussion with colleagues in breakout rooms as well as framework to support articulation of the content.

Who can attend?
This training is open to all MESPA members! Space is limited, so register today!

The Catalyst Approach is a comprehensive professional development and implementation model developed by creative partners Nancy Burns and Jacki Brickman, and is based on their observations in more than 50,000 classrooms and school-wide common spaces. It includes a suite of courses, coaching components, leadership development, and systems support that accelerates deep implementation of skills that lead to the creation of improved classroom and school leadership, relationships, and culture.

Their Mission: Empower others to view themselves as leaders with a responsibility to learn and grow while purposefully contributing to a culture where everyone is a catalyst to developing relationships and disrupting inequity.

Their Vision: Every student is surrounded by leaders who understand, nurture, inspire, and support them.
