MTSS 101 Building a Strong TIER 1 to Support Staff and Students

We all know that staff, students, and families thrive in a safe, nurturing, positive, predictable, reinforcing, and stimulating environment. By integrating MTSS with the principles of implementation science, schools can systematically meet students' and staff' diverse academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs. This approach fosters an inclusive culture guided by collaboration, data-driven decision-making, and a commitment to continuous improvement—ensuring every learner has access to the support they need to succeed.

Session Objectives:

Participants will:
✅ Identify MTSS as a framework that can support the whole child (Academic, SEL, Behavior Health and Mental Health)
✅ Learn tools and strategies to assist students and staff around Tier 1
✅ Explore classroom best practices around the whole child  (Academic, SEL, Behavior Health and Mental Health)
✅ Develop a school-wide process to assist all families around MTSS Tier

AFTERNOON SESSION 12:30-4:00 PM:

MTSS Tier 2: What Do We Do When Staff and Students Don’t Respond to Tier 1?

Many of our schools have strong Tier 1 best practices that foster a positive, nurturing, and predictable learning environment for all students and staff. But what happens when some students and staff don’t respond to Tier 1 supports? Join us for a half-day professional development session designed to help you and your team take the next steps in identifying gaps, strengthening Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions, and ensuring all learners receive the support they need to thrive!

Session Objectives:

By the end of this session, participants will:
✅ Understand the purpose and key components of Tier 2 in MTSS
✅ Identify students who need Tier 2 interventions using data-based decision-making
✅ Explore evidence-based academic, behavioral, and SEL interventions
✅ Learn how to track progress and adjust supports effectively
